The three founding partners were all born in 1919 in Columbus, Ohio and had been friends since 1st grade. After World War II and college graduation they decided to start their first company, a construction company called Encrete, Inc. in 1949. The Encrete name came from “Engineered Concrete”. The founders were two engineers and a marketing major. Their first projects were all concrete related. Curbs, gutters, streets, bridges, sewer plants and bridges. The company grew and the projects grew larger. In the early 1950’s, more companies were formed and now projects were being built for themselves besides being built for others. The 1960’s and ‘70’s saw fast growth in all areas of commercial real estate ownership and development. Projects mentioned in the “Welcome” section were well on their way to being successful.
